Toughing it out like 'Walker, Texas Ranger'...

My husband loves to watch "Walker, Texas Ranger" reruns.  Without fail, he'll call me everytime to come watch it with him..."Honey, Walter is on!"  Cue me rolling my eyes.  He usually follows that up with "That'sa real man!  Beat the hell outta everboddy!"  No offense, Walter, but I think your show is corn-on-the-cob corny.  The whole "Don't mess with Texas" hokey grates on my nerves, and I'm from the South!!  We know hokey!

Of course, my husband thinks that cowboys are nothing short of the divine, with their ten gallon hats, cowboy boots and dinnerplate sized belt buckles.  He's in love with the swagger, ('cause I sure hope it ain't the clothes!), the horses, and the big @ss Ford F 150 trucks.  I don't blame him though about the trucks, look at his:

This blue baby runs on a vespa motor, and it's top speed is around 20 mph.

We always end up arguing when Walter is on.  I can't pass up the opportunity to crush the storyline and "fine acting skills" of the actors, and he can't stand the fact that I won't let him have his "American Dream".

I think it boils down to the old saying "Opposites Attract".  He is Italian, and there's nothing cowboy-ish about that.  He likes the Can Do American spirit.  He thinks Texas-style martial arts are the only things worth doing in cowboy boots.  He makes drinking out of a tiny espresso cup look classy, something Walter probably only wishes he had the finesse to do...

 savoring every drop...

Happy Birthday, amore mio!

It's funny how he admires our cowboys... and we admire Italians for being so romantic. Great post!

Tell your husband that he can come ride with the Outlaws if he's ever here! It's a burden being so AWESOME!

I stumbled upon your blog from expat-blog, and I am enjoying reading it from start to finish. I'm just another southern girl (Tennessean), living vicariously through you!
Believe me, 'Walter" ain't got nothing on your sweetie!
